Description
Introduction to Safety Management Systems is a two day course. The training introduces the four fundamental pillars of safety management by way of a structured system used to manage operations related risks.
The course, based on the safety management principles defined by ICAO, includes an introduction to the international regulatory framework, a review of the four pillars of an SMS, an introduction to the methods most frequently used to identify hazards and airport hazard management.

General and Specific Objectives

  • Understand the legal framework and international regulations that apply to implementation of an airport SMS
  • Understand the usefulness and importance of safety and risk management to airport operations by way of a structured and systematic safety management system

Skills Acquired
At the end of the training participants will be able to understand the four fundamental pillars of a safety management system.

Prerequisites
