Asbestos is a mineral fibre which was widely used in construction up to the 1970s due to its excellent insulating and fire resistance properties.

It was used in a very large number of materials such as concrete, paint, rendering, glue and also in the form of sheets, felts, corrugated panels, seals, garden furniture, plant pots, floor coatings, cellar doors and so on.

The toxicity of asbestos has been known since 1975. Fine dust particles released by construction materials were found to be carcinogenic. However its use was not banned in Switzerland until 1 March 1989. Therefore all buildings constructed before 1991 represent a health hazard.

Our SUVA approved experts can investigate buildings, take and analyse samples and produce a report along with recommendations. We can also monitor asbestos removal work and final inspection in accordance with applicable standards.
